Together with the San Felipe Rotary Club in San Felipe, Baja, Mexico, we sponsor a home for young girls, provide youth sports equipment, and support a cancer prevention clinic in the city. A recent $5,300 grant provided upgrades & scholarships for a school for physically challenged children.
In 2007, our club donated mammography equipment that helped establish a cancer prevention clinic. Since then, the clinic has grown to a point where it has occupied a larger facility. Our club recently supported a Rotary grant that provided ultrasound equipment and additional medical equipment and supplies.
In 2011 we were awarded a global Rotary Foundation matching grant of $37,273. We, along with a Ugandan Rotary Club, “adopted” a village in rural Uganda and used the funds to prevent malaria, provide clean water, improve village sanitation, and improve and sustain agriculture production. More than 2,000 residents of Nsawo Village will benefit from mosquito nets, construction of a new water borehole and a large holding tank; pit latrines and hand wash stations in the village center and at a primary school; provided better breeds of beans and maize seeds and a supply of piglets, chicks as well as feed for poultry farms.
As one of more than 33,000 Rotary clubs and more than 1.2 million Rotarians world-wide, we continue the fight to eradicate polio from the face of the earth.
